“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.”
― Winston Churchill
We see the truth now. The truth that we left a country to its own devices, although it had no devices, no institutions, no government. We see it had only hate between tribes, terror waiting.
Some say we should have left Saddam Hussein in control. He with the rifle who would shoot a man just to see him bleed. Or his sons, who would keep tigers so they could maul those they deemed “less than”.
They say George Bush made a mistake, going into Iraq to take out WMD. There weren’t any WMD. There was just a dictator who killed indiscriminately and who had high ambitions for his place in the world.
They say we made a mistake, liberating a country that doesn’t know how to live when liberated. They say the current government, while a different tribe, is no different.
And now terrorists have spilled from Syria to Iraq, lining up thousands to be slaughtered, but not in their tribe. No, in the tribe of the leaders of Iraq.
And the leaders of Iraq have no army. They had an army. It was too frightened by the gore to fight. They left.
And now they agree we should have left soldiers in Iraq, at all costs. That we should have negotiated with Al-Maliki to protect our soldiers, not take them out.
And our president lectures the prime minister of Iraq on how to run a government. Odd. Since he doesn’t know how to run one and is always surprised by what happens. His head bent over the latest golf ball, keeping his eyes down and his ears shut. Saying the only red line he has is that line from the fairway to the green ……….
And dark days will come again for us. Because no one can deny that we have to help people we liberated from certain death at the hands of a dictator. We must step up and no longer try to appease the terrorists shouting that we killed Osama Bin Laden. He was a mere speck in the eye of life. He’s gone but his evil lives on.
And what is America for, except to combat evil?
Tell me, I want to know.
